Emerald Lakers Finals Run Builds to Historic Grand Final Sweep

The 2026 summer season finals series was a remarkable journey for Emerald Lakers Basketball Club.

Across three intense weeks of competition at the State Basketball Centre, Lakers teams featured at every stage of the finals. From preliminary finals to grand finals, our players showed determination, teamwork and a genuine love of the game.

Many teams fought their way through tough semi-finals and preliminary finals to keep their seasons alive. Others earned direct places in the grand final. By the time grand final day arrived, Emerald Lakers had an extraordinary eight teams competing for a premiership.

The Path to Grand Final Day

The clean sweep did not happen overnight. It was built across weeks of finals basketball.

Earlier in the finals series, Lakers teams were competing across the courts from early morning through to the evening. Boys teams across the U10, U12, U14 and U16 divisions were in action, alongside strong representation from our girls program.

Preliminary finals week brought another round of high-pressure games as teams battled for a place on the final stage of the season. Some teams finished their campaigns there, after outstanding seasons and hard-fought matches. Every finals appearance represents months of commitment. Training sessions in all weather. Learning through wins and losses. Supporting teammates and building confidence week by week.

While eight teams ultimately lifted the premiership banners, the success of this finals campaign belongs to every Emerald Lakers player who made the finals. Reaching a semi-final or preliminary final is a significant achievement. Those teams helped set the standard for the club and contributed to the strong Lakers presence throughout the finals series.
