ABOUT
A LEGACY
IN MOTION
Hills kids playing local basketball since 1989.

WHO WE ARE
NAMED FOR THE LAKE, BUILT BY FAMILIES
Our name and colours come from Emerald Lake and the forests around it. The Lake Monster logo was drawn by Ben Bush, a player and Emerald Secondary College student, after a club competition – and it’s still used today.

OUR STORY
THREE DECADES ON THE COURT
1989
Nine teams enter the Kilsyth Association’s summer season, founded by local families including the Huisintvelds, Clares, Blacks, Fullers, Bryants and Terrys. Kris Terry is the first president, Kevin Terry the first coach.
EARLY ’90S
The club grows to 32 teams and moves to the Knox Amateur Basketball Association – today Knox Basketball Inc.
MID ’90S
Gary Stephens, then Fred Barton, lead the club, with Brett Rob and Fred Hauser as vice-presidents.
2002
Fred Hauser becomes president with Charlie Borin. New uniforms honour the original logo, professional coaching arrives, and sponsorships steady the finances.
TODAY
Approx. 35-40 junior teams, new club rules adopted in 2026, and a committee focused on the next 30 years.
